Spring break
"An optimist is the human personification of spring." -Susan J. Bissonette

Awaken to spring!
Hello, friends, thank goodness winter has passed and we are embarking on spring. It's been a busy winter for us but we decided to take a much needed holiday and went to Tonga to escape the wintery winds on the West Coast. It was the first overseas trip for our daughter, Aurora, seven months at the time. Tonga was the perfect choice it turned out - beautiful, hot, white sandy beaches and the slow pace of life that we were seeking. Aurora was a bit of a novelty to the locals with her porcelain skin and big blue eyes. We had eager babysitters everywhere we went!  I loved the flora and fauna of Tonga the most. In particular, the very fragrant frangipani flowers in bloom with their distinct exotic scent. I was sure to follow the local tradition of placing a flower in my hair for some natural perfume. Incidentally, I learned that in Polynesian culture, the side of the ear in which a woman places her flower indicates her relationship status. Over the right ear means seeking a relationship, over the left and it means you are taken. Overall, Tonga was a lovely experience and we really enjoyed bonding as a new family. From now on, the frangipani scent will remind me of our Tongan holiday and bring me right back to that feeling of warmth and love that we shared on this special trip.

Speaking of scents bringing you back to a memory, my good friend, Anthony, sent me this article. As you know, fragrances get stored in the part of our brain which is linked to feelings and emotions, which is why they are so powerful and individual to each of us. The idea of applying scents to your photographs is pretty clever as it will most likely unlock more memories associated with the photograph by using both the olfactory as well as visual responses to the image. The technique in this article is relatively inexpensive and easy, why not give it a go for your next scrap booking project?

Essential Oil spotlight-Frangipani
Frangipani essential oil is extracted from the petals of the Plumeria flower and originates from India. Frangipani oil is highly sought after and is one of the most expensive oils available. Its scent is bright, sweet with a lingering citrus note and falls within the Oriental scent family with its exotic tone. The plumeria plant in India is known as the Tree of Life because when you cut a branch off the tree it will continue to blossom, representing our soul's connection with the Divine. Emotionally, this essential oil is said to restore self-esteem, promote feelings of romance and uplifts the overall self. Physically, frangipani reduces back aches and headaches. Spiritually, frangipani works on inner and outer awareness, inner peace and harmony.

I hope this newsletter finds each of you happy and well. As always, I'd love to hear from you so contact me anytime.
